Classic Metal Shaping was established in 1991. We specialise in metalwork from restoring existing bodies to making a new body for your vintage or classic car. We are well equipped to do the work efficiently and to a very high standard. We also undertake chassis repair and are well equipped for this work. Ash frame repairs can also be carried out to a high standard.
Our workshop is well equipped for all coachbuilding work with two wheeling machines and a third small wheeling machine for tight shapes.
Our two Pullmax machines can create any detail required for classic and vintage car panels such as swages and body lines and beads for floorpanels. These versatile machines can also create louvers of varying lengths or louvers in curved panels. They make short work of cutting the blanks for panels and can be used for cutting slots, shrinking large areas and forming flanges. Having two of these machines means we can avoid constantly changing tooling.
Our Louver punch has a large throat and we have a lot of sizes and styles of louver tools so we are able to punch louvers for most requirements. We can also make one off tooling should it be needed.
We have several shrinkers and stretchers so we can work efficiently and don't have to waste time swapping tooling.
There are also several folders, Jennys and swagers, fly presses and hole punching machines for creating the details in panels. We have several planishing machines to speed up the process of forming and metal finishing panels.
Watch our videos to see some of these machines in use.
It is inevitable that we find rot and damage in the ash framed cars we work on. We have the skills, tools and machines needed for carrying out repairs to ash frames to a high standard.
We have a cut off saw/table saw, bandsaw, belt sander, routers and planers as well as all the hand tools associated with woodwork, so if your ash frame is in need of repair we can ensure that it is as good as new before we carry out any metalwork.
